Old Yeller Award to be given in three years.
CBS announced that they are renewing "The Big Bang Theory" for another 3 years. Apparently, they feel like the term Bazinga* has cultural relevance to last years after the t-shirts have been donated to thrift stores. I never liked this show because of the face it puts on nerd culture. The fact that i just called it nerd culture is stupid. I recently had to watch an episode while waiting for something better to come on and it felt like it would never end. I also hate that this show is just one of those shows that keep going because of the classic sitcom formula and audiences tendency to not embrace anything new. The formula is this...
1. Open on the situation not pertaining to the episodes overall story with a %15 chance of being an episode that DOES open with something dramatic which sets the story on it's path.
4 seconds later after awful intro song...
2. Discuss the episodes issue with references to pop culture or how they have dealt with it or what insecurities they have with very little progress in moving along.
14 minutes later...
3. Finally, on to the issue of the episode (high school reunion, date etc) with things mentioned in the previous step to remind the viewer how funny stuff works.
.47 seconds later...
3 1/2. On the off chance that they decide to make a story last over 3 episodes, this is where that information goes and sometimes a hint is given after number 4.
7 minutes later...
4. Resolve episodes issue the correct way while the character claims to grow but will fall victim to it again when a new season happens and wrap it off with something silly and off topic.
I witnessed this play out for the entire first season and just so i could say i gave the show a chance but all it did was make me a genius with dark rimmed who writes a blog and plays video games with like minded friends...wait a minute. Give me a show, CBS.

*i got a nosebleed thinking about the use of this made up word on the show. He literally says it like Charlie Sheen's term "Winning".
