Go, Go, Power Reboot!

It was announced today that The Power Rangers will be getting rebooted into a film franchise (even though they have been rebooted 14 times in 20 years). At first, the child inside of you goes "cool, maybe kids today will see what it used to be like" but then the adult you says "wait a minute...I stopped watching Power Rangers for a reason" and that was age. We started understanding that the show was cheesy and campy and moved onto the next obsession (girls, music, etc) but apparently some geniuses at Lionsgate and Saban Entertainment still believe that horse isn't dead and want to bring it to the big screen and give it the ol'Twilight/Hunger Games treatment remake. They will probably give it a dark look and talk about where the powers come from so you know we can understand where 5 teenagers got dinosaur powers and access to giant machines. I wonder if the original cast has anything to say about this and what they are up to? Let's use the power of the internet to decipher this riddle...

Someone once told me that Austin St.John (Jason/Red Ranger) did gay porn but that was one of those funny not true/career ending rumors. He is alive and working as a firefighter in Washington D.C.

Walter Emanuel Jones (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger) walked off the show in the second season due to not getting paid enough. He is still alive and attends conventions and is pretty much a nice guy.

David Yost (Billy/Blue Ranger) is retired from "the biz" and he claims he quit Power Rangers because he was being harassed for being gay. He said in an interview that "The reason that I walked off is that I was called  'f-----' one too many times," Yost said. "I had just heard that several times while working on the show from creators, producers, writers, directors. ... I, myself, was struggling with who I was and what I was. ...  Basically I just felt like I was continually being told I was not worthy of being where I am because I'm a gay person. And I'm not supposed to be an actor. And I'm not a superhero."

Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly Ann Hart/Pink Ranger) went on to have a career in acting after the Power Rangers appearing on the TV show Felicity and she does charity work now.

Thuy Trang tragically died in a car accident in 2001 on September 3rd. She appeared in the sequel to the Crow obviously before her death.

Yikes. what a low point to end on. Oh well. Let's reboot, right?!
