Weird Al Returned to the public view
with his 14th studio release in a career that has spanned
over 30 years and won 3 Grammy's. Mandatory Fun is the name of the new Al-bum and it is
classic Al. Even at age 54, Al, still remains as relevant as ever in
the comedy world. A feat very impressive considering how hard artists struggle to get past their second album these days. Al remains one of the
only mainstream music acts who thrived on MTV while not missing a
beat when it came time to switch to the internet. The self
proclaimed “Eat-It Guy” has managed to etch out a living in a way
no one else has. Seriously think about it. There is only one Parody
guy, and he is Weird.
In addition to a new album. Al
has also promised 8 music videos in 8 days, starting on 7/14/14 Al
will release a music video a day for 8 days to celebrate his final
Album. The first one was “Tacky” a spoof of Pharrell Williams‘
“Happy.” Featuring Aisha Tyler, Kristen Schaal, Jack Black, and
more, proving that comedians everywhere grew up loving Al and we all
still do.
Mandatory Fun will be Al’s final
conventionally released album. When asked recently on NPR about it
he stated. “I don't know that I'm going to be doing any more
traditional albums after this point, now that my record label deal is
over. I think that digital distribution is more the way for me to go:
putting out a single at a time, possibly two or three tracks or an
EP. I don't know that putting out 12 songs at once in this day and
age is the best way for me to get my music out there, because if I'm
waiting that long, chances are a lot of the material is going to be
somewhat dated by the time it comes out.”

this time to pay tribute to a man who was a trail blazer and pioneer
in the comedy field, on this the day of his last Album hitting the stores.
