Melissa McCarthy: We get it.

Melissa McCarthy is an actress from the TV show Mike and Molly. She has since made the move to movies making a huge impression on audiences. Her performance in Bridesmaids was hilarious but unfortunately for us someone left her repeat button on and we got that same character through the course of 4 movies and no one seems to notice. But why shouldn't she grow past her profane and strongly opinionated persona? the quick answer is that when you are in different movies you need to make a whole new type of character to better fit that story. But why should she change from movie to movie? audiences clearly love her just the way she is and the numbers are more than enough to convince someone they shouldn't do anything but the same thing over and over again.

    • Bridesmaids (2011) made $169,106,725
    • Identity Thief (2013) made $134,506,920
    • The Heat (2013) made $159,582,188

And with sequels planned for Bridesmaids and The Heat on the way that should pretty much solidify her as the kind of person who gets cast for whatever they want as long as her one note character comes along for the ride. For example, her completely useless role as Zach Galifianakis's mirror image love interest in The Hangover III...was that really necessary for the movie to have? Or was Melissa McCarthy so hot back then that the studio forced it upon the production of The Hangover III just to get someone popular in there?.

i personally thought when i first saw her in Bridesmaids that we were getting a truly memorable actress out of this movie but as she was given more opportunities she kept showing us that she could break down a can of beer on her forehead or have the same sex drive as any other guy. Maybe someday when everyone else catches on to her act maybe then she will force herself to do more or at least stretch yourself artistically.
